New Mentis Assist Office Provides Greater Mental Health Support in Melbourne's South East

For over 30 years, mental health support specialists Mentis Assist has provided expert services to clients in Melbourne’s south-east. With the opening of a new Narre Warren office, access to support is set to significantly increase throughout the area.

The launch of the new office, located at 9/3 Webb Street, Narre Warren, provides a central, accessible location for people with mental illness throughout Casey, Cardinia and surrounding suburbs.

Mentis Assist provides Mental Health Integrated Complex Care (MHICC) services with funding received from the South Eastern Primary Health Network (SEMPHN), in the South Eastern suburbs of Melbourne.

MHICC services are part of a bigger Mental Health Stepped Care Model, which provides mental health support for individuals who might not have been able to afford or access similar care previously.

Mentis Assist’s highly experienced team of credentialed mental health nurses, psychologists, social workers and mental health practitioners, work with people with severe and/or complex mental health needs to help them achieve their goals and live their best life.

The service provides flexibility to ‘step up’ or 'step down' their supports depending on their needs at any given time.

Mentis Assist CEO, Terry Palioportas, said the service will help those who have slipped through the cracks due to disadvantage.

“There are many who have not been able to access services due to socio-economic factors, who will now be able to receive local, personalised care to help them on their road to recovery and wellbeing,” said Mr Palioportas.

As a registered NDIS (National Disability Insurance Service) provider, Mentis Assist also offers support coordination services for participants with an approved NDIS plan from its Narre Warren office.

As a comprehensive mental health support service, Mentis Assist emphasises health and wellbeing, encouraging clients to realise their goals, values and strengths. This work also aims to enhance clients' independence, social participation and relationships.

Individuals and families can access Mentis Assist’s one-on-one support in the home, community and clinic, as well as extensive training and group activities throughout Melbourne's south-eastern and outer eastern suburbs.

The Narre Warren office is open by appointment only. For referrals to the MHICC program, clients are encouraged to call SEMPHN on 1800 862 363. Clients with NDIS enquiries may call 1300 MENTIS (1300 636 847) for further assistance.
