Have you recently experienced the loss of a loved one through suicide?
Mentis Assist offers an eight week support group available to existing clients and
carers to help them come to terms with the loss of a loved one through suicide.
In a safe and supportive environment, participants will be free to express their grief. The group aims to provide a sense of belonging at a time when people often feel disassociated from the rest of the world and will explore and help participants understand the wide range of emotions that occur after someone has suicided. The group also provides participants assistance in regaining some control over their lives when they often feel desperately out of control and instead, instil a sense of hope for a fulfilling and content life for the future.
The topics discussed include grief education, self-care, strategies to help get through special occasions, managing the stigma associated with suicide, dealing with life without your loved one and coming to terms with a new ‘normal’.
Our facilitators have extensive experience in group work, along with experience in mental health and suicide, both professionally and personally.
